Bio of Janet Lifshitz Sameh

Janet Lifshitz Sameh is a creative and strategic healthcare leader with a strong record of contributing to the success of healthcare organizations. Having a background in both call center and social media, she is passionate about using all forms of communication technologies to create better health outcomes.

Janet comes from a family of physicians. Experiencing firsthand the impact of poor after-hours communication, Janet and her husband Joseph Sameh founded Mediconnect in 1985, which grew to be the Midwest’s leading medical answering service. By being in the center of patient to provider communication, they were able to share their expertise with many of the area’s health systems.

In the mid 1990s Janet took the leading role in directing PhoneScreen, the pharmaceutical support services division. Under Janet’s leadership PhoneScreen was a pioneering influence in patient communications and grew to be an industry leading patient recruitment call center, with clientele ranging from large pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, CROs and patient recruitment firms. Under her guidance, PhoneScreen continued to enhance their robust service portfolio to offer innovative clinical support services including real time online reporting, web based recruitment and patient tracking. Janet additionally directed the commercial aspects including tele-detailing and patient relationship and adherence programs for pharmaceutical companies.

Janet additionally managed the transition of Mediconnect and PhoneScreen from privately held companies into divisions of a publicly held corporation. Her ability and ingenuity succeeded in limiting staff turnover to less than two percent with minimal customer churn.

Janet is our in-house social media thought leader. She is a master of managing social media in the healthcare space and is active on twitter via @janetlsameh as well as curating her own blog covering all things healthcare at www.patchingtheboat.com.

She is a Certified HIPAA professional and has completed the NIH’s training course on “Protecting Human Research Participants”.
